Girlie of the month interview

For Girlie of the month at Scrap-Tastic they had me answer a few scrap related questions, so I thought I would post them on here as well.

How do you deal with scrapper's block?
I do a number of things: look through magazines or my inspiration folder; sleep on it - I don't know why but this works - I will wake up at 6:00am and have an idea rolling around in my head! But the best thing I have found is to clean\organize my scrap supplies always gets my mojo going!

What's your fave scrap snack?
If I am trying to be good popcorn or dry roasted almonds, but if I am having a late night scrap-a-thon it has to be chips and cheese with ranch dressing for dippin'!

Are you a day scrapper or a night scrapper?
BOTH! I try to get about an hour of scrapping in while my youngest naps in the afternoon (if my oldest will rest for awhile), but I get the most done when I scrap at night (about twice a week) no interruptions and I can go as late as I need to.

How would you explain your style?
Well my background is in both fine art and graphic design, and I think the mix shows up in my layouts. If I had to define my style I guess I would call it "graphic with a bit of whimsy"

What inspires you?
EVERYTHING! My family, nature, magazine ads, pop cans; I tend to look at things as shapes and how they relate to one another, which transposes easily into a layout design.

When did you realize you were hooked on scrapping?
I started scrapping in '96 when my DH and I started dating, but really got hooked when my first son was born in 2002. It was the creative outlet I needed; I no longer was working in the design field and was a stay at home mom, scrapping was the perfect fit!

What are your favorite paper lines?
I LOVE the ledger line by Making Memories (I use it on almost every layout), anything that Foof-a-la\Autumn Leaves puts out, and of course Basic Grey!

How did you get into scrapbooking?
My mom gave me a scrapbooking "kit" from a craft store.

How do you feel about being published? Are you published?
It is a thrill to see your layout in a magazine! I have had a number of layouts published in Memory Maker Idea books when I first started scrapbooking, I am not sure why but I quit submitting around the time that my 2nd son was born (just to busy I guess). I did enter the CK HOF and received honorable mention the last two years, and I had my scrap room published in the CK April 2006 issue. Funny fact is that my room is completely re done and looks nothing like the pictures in the magazine :)

Other random facts, info, secrets:
I just started a blog about a month ago and I am having a lot of fun with it. I think I like shopping for scrap supplies just about as much as I like scrapbooking! If I don't get to scrap or do something scrap related each day I get a little grumpy. -(shhh that one is a secret!)
